How To Setup a Custom Domain On WordPress.com

Like Blogger, WordPress is also one of the best blogging platforms. You can create free blogs on WordPress.com, which have the ".wordpress.com" extension. However, you can also set up a custom domain name for your WordPress blog. Adding a custom domain to your WordPress blog can make it stand out and give it a more professional look. In this post, we will discuss how you can easily register a domain name through WordPress or transfer your existing domain name to WordPress.

How to setup your custom domain name on WordPress :

Setting up a custom domain in WordPress is not a free service. To map a domain name you have already bought to your WordPress site, you need to pay a fee for the mapping service. You can use your own domain name or register a new domain name through WordPress during the process of setting up a custom domain. While it may not be difficult to set up a custom domain in WordPress, there are certain steps you need to follow.

Follow below steps to setup a custom domain name on WordPress:

Step 1 :  Log in to WordPress blog dashboard
Click on Upgrades , under Upgrades click on domains.
Enter domain name and click on Add domain to blog
If the domain you entered is already registered , you can get Nameservers
If the domain you entered is not registered , you have to buy from WordPress.

Step 2 :  Log in to your Domain Registrar account, Add below Nameservers

              NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
              NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
              NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

Give some time to update DNS settings.

Step 3 :  Now, once again, log in to your WordPress account and click on the "Try again" message.

Step 4 :  Click the "Map domain" button and choose your preferred payment method to complete the payment process.

Step 5 : After completing the purchase, you will be redirected to the domains page. Select your domain name from the list and click on "Update Primary Domain."

Now you have successfully added a custom domain name to your WordPress blog. From now onwards, your WordPress blog will redirect to your custom domain. This allows you to have a personalized and professional domain for your blog. You can repeat this process to set up any custom domain name for your WordPress blogs.
